Vacancy Summary
Approximately 480 vacancies are expected, including 19 PwBD vacancies. The count may change. The notice lists services/posts within four engineering categories. Do not treat 480 as a confirmed vacancy count for any single branch or category.
- Civil Engineering - Category I
- Mechanical Engineering - Category II
- Electrical Engineering - Category III
- Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering - Category IV
Reservation, physical requirements and service eligibility vary. Read the notice and its annexures for the service/post that you intend to select.
Age and Qualification
- Base age: at least 21 and below 30 on 1 January 2027. The notice specifies birth from 2 January 1997 to 1 January 2006, inclusive.
- Category and service-specific age relaxations apply only under the notice's conditions. SC/ST relaxation is up to five years and OBC up to three years where applicable. Read the full rules for PwBD, ex-servicemen and departmental candidates.
- Education: a recognized engineering degree is the principal route. The notice also lists specific examination/membership routes and limited alternative qualifications for particular services. Recognition restrictions apply to some institutional qualifications.
- Candidates awaiting the qualifying examination/result can apply under the provisional rules, but must provide proof of passing within the notified post-Main window if called for the Personality Test.
- Nationality, medical fitness, service-specific physical standards and disability eligibility must also be satisfied. A degree alone does not confirm eligibility.
Application Fee
The examination fee is Rs 200. Female, SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt. Follow the fee modes in the live official form; the notice states that paid fees are not refundable.
Exam Pattern and Selection
| Stage / Paper | Duration | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Preliminary Paper I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (objective) | 2 hours | 200 |
| Preliminary Paper II: chosen engineering discipline (objective) | 3 hours | 300 |
| Main: engineering discipline Paper I (conventional) | 3 hours | 300 |
| Main: engineering discipline Paper II (conventional) | 3 hours | 300 |
| Personality Test / Interview | As scheduled | 200 |
Preliminary marks count toward final merit for candidates who progress. Final ranking uses Preliminary, Main and Personality Test marks, totaling 1,300. Selection remains subject to eligibility, medical/physical standards and service-allocation rules.
Objective wrong-answer penalty: one-third of the marks assigned to the question. Marking multiple answers is treated as a wrong answer; a blank answer has no penalty. Conventional papers must be answered in English; question papers are set in English. Calculators are allowed only for conventional papers under the specified rules, not objective papers.
