UGC NET December 2026 uses a 180-minute CBT with Paper I and Paper II and no break. There are 150 compulsory questions worth 300 marks.
Paper I and II test different things
Paper I has 50 questions worth 100 marks on teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper II has 100 questions worth 200 marks on the chosen subject. Every correct answer earns two marks, with no negative marking.
Use your actual subject syllabus
Annexure II lists 87 subjects, codes and the syllabus source. Match your actual subject rather than an unrelated coaching syllabus. The bulletin does not guarantee a topic-wise question distribution.
