Selection Process

Claim all relevant qualifications and experience accurately and keep supporting documents ready.

How to Fill the Online Application Form

  1. Open the official website using the links below. Read the advertisement and any corrigendum before starting. A news report or mirror PDF is not a substitute for the recruiting authority's notice.
  2. Confirm the advertisement number, selected post and application window. Compare your date of birth, qualifications, experience and category with the conditions for that specific post.
  3. Complete Account Creation, Universal Registration and the Common Application Form on upsconline.nic.in. Retain your Universal Registration Number (URN). Open the fourth, vacancy-specific module and choose the correct vacancy number.
  4. Enter personal, educational and reservation details exactly as they appear on your certificates. Review any imported details before continuing.
  5. Upload the qualification, experience, date-of-birth and category documents requested for your claims. Follow the CAF photo/live-photo instructions and upload the image of three signatures in black ink, one below another. The advertisement and portal instructions govern the exact format.
  6. Review the application preview, selected post, category and all uploaded files. Correct errors before final submission.
  7. Pay the applicable fee only through the payment gateway linked from the official form, if a fee is required. Confirm that the transaction and application status are successful.
  8. Submit the completed form within the official deadline. Download the final application and receipt, and retain the application number for later use.
  9. Return to the official website for correction notices, admit cards and selection updates. A saved draft, payment receipt alone or opened form does not prove final submission.

Application screens can change. The official portal and latest notice take precedence over this guidance. Never share a password, OTP or payment credentials with a third-party job-information website.

Exam Pattern

The official advertisement permits shortlisting by qualifications, experience or a Recruitment Test (RT), followed by interview. It does not prescribe a fixed question count, duration or subject weightage for these posts. If an RT is held, UPSC will decide its qualifying standard case by case.

Interview minimum suitability marks out of 100: UR 50, OBC 45, SC/ST/PH 40. Where selection includes RT and interview, candidates must meet the required standard at both stages. These are interview suitability marks, not a published written-test pattern.

Official Syllabus Status

The complete Advertisement 12/2026 does not give a chapter-wise Recruitment Test syllabus. Do not use a generic UPSC examination syllabus for these vacancy-specific technical, legal and medical posts. Any later post-specific RT notice will govern the syllabus and scheme.
