Exam Pattern

The official syllabus notice dated 24 September 2026 confirms one objective written paper: 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours. Only candidates who pass the qualifying physical tests take the written exam.

A wrong answer or more than one answer attracts a deduction of one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question. Unanswered questions have no penalty. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for UR/EWS/OBC; 35% for SC/ST. These minimums do not guarantee selection.

Qualifying Physical Tests

Standard minimum height: men 163 cm, women 150 cm; the notice specifies 152 cm/145 cm for the listed eligible communities. Chest expansion is 5 cm. Check the full notification for category-specific eligibility and medical rules.

Only candidates who pass the run proceed to shot put and jumps. Each of those three events must be passed within a maximum of three attempts. Physical tests are qualifying, not added to written marks.

Syllabus

General Science (50 marks): chemistry (matter, atomic structure, mixtures, acids/bases/salts, reactions, metals, carbon compounds); physics (light, electricity, magnetism, motion, forces, energy, sound); biology (cells, genetics, plants, animals, human body and health); ecology, energy, pollution, conservation and food production.

General Mathematics (50 marks): number systems, real numbers, polynomials, quadratic and linear equations, arithmetic progressions, coordinate geometry, triangles/quadrilaterals/circles, trigonometry, heights and distances, mensuration, percentages, profit/loss, ratio, averages, interest, time/work, pipes/cisterns, speed/distance, trains/boats, statistics and basic probability.
