CSIR NEERI Syllabus 2026 for advertisement CSIR-NEERI/1/2026 has a qualifying trade test followed by three written papers. This guide explains the official scheme, not a new exam date.
Paper I is qualifying, not final merit
Paper I tests Mental Ability: general intelligence, quantitative aptitude, reasoning, problem solving and situational judgement. There are 50 questions worth 100 marks in 60 minutes, with no negative marking. The committee will notify the trade-test and Paper I thresholds before the written exam.
Papers II and III decide merit
Paper II has 25 General Awareness and 25 English questions in 30 minutes, three marks per correct answer and one mark deducted for a wrong answer. Paper III has 100 subject questions in 90 minutes with the same three/one marking. These papers are evaluated only for candidates clearing Paper I; final merit uses Paper II+III.
Assistant and Officer exam standard differs
Technical Assistant uses graduation-level standard; Technical Officer uses postgraduate/BTech standard based on the advertised qualification. Questions are bilingual except English-language questions. Do not use an unrelated SSC syllabus as the subject list: prepare your actual post discipline.
For degree, age, category fee and the 15 October 5 PMapplication deadline, use the existing NEERI recruitment post.
